  • ...haven't been very good about blogging.  Gosh, I've been downright terrible.  I love reading other people's blogs, but I am so bad about doing it for myself.  I finally got a notice from xanga, for an update or else they'd cancel my account *sigh*

Lots has happened in the past two years.  Marriage (yup, going on three years this Fall), bought our first house, and still trying for kids (practice makes perfect, right?).  I'm getting eye surgery tomorrow on the eye that I had a cornea transplant in a few years ago, so that is something I am a little nervous about, but I'm trying not to think too much about it. Wish me luck!

  • I have to update this or I lose my account!

  • FRIDAY! At last! This week, even though shortened by the holiday, seems neverending.  Last night, we were supposed to go to an Angels game with our friends, Kerry and Nwanee.  We had gone a couple of months ago with them and had a great time. So, when Kerry offered a second opportunity to go, we agreed.  Unfortunately, this week has been so hectic that both Gat and I have been at work until after 10pm both Wednesday and last night.  So, we had to forfeit going to the game. Maybe next time.

After listening to the news yesterday and reading the paper this morning, it saddens me to see the senseless violence that goes on in the world.  Senseless to me at least.  Some bad decisions have been made along with even worse reactions.  It's an endless cycle. In some ways, it makes me grateful for what I have, although you can never take it for granted.  Things could be very different tomorrow.

Enjoy the weekend people. Stay safe.

  • Did we just have a 3-day weekend? I swear, I went to sleep on Friday and woke up this morning to Tuesday.  Where'd the weekend go?  As of mid last week, we planned a very impromptu trip with my dad to Las Vegas for the 4th of July weekend. Left on Saturday morning and sat through 6 hours of traffic on Hwy 15.  Ugh , shoulda seen that coming.  Vegas was packed. On top of that, the 3-digit numbered temperatures did not help.  It was a scorching oven filled with people.  The weekend went by very fast somewhere between eating delicious buffets, gambling, waiting in lines, gambling, hanging out at the pool, gambling, checking out the new Wynn casino, and of course...gambling. My dad managed to come out positive, hitting 8 out of 9 numbers in video Keno.  Gat managed to come out alive this time, with minimal damage (which is shocking). Me...well, my freak 3-card streak is still there(sort of).  I can count how many times I've sat down on a 3-card table, ever. Seven times. The first five times (March trip), I had straight flushes four out of the five times.   This time, I sat down twice at a 3-card table.  Didn't get any straight flushes, but had 3-of-a-kind twice.  However, I still managed to lose money on this trip.  Oh well.

On another note, as of yesterday (July 4th), we are officially two months away from our wedding date.  The details are starting to swarm me, but I'm trying not to get overwhelmed.  Last week, I decided on what sort of invitations to make for the wedding and will need to pick out papers and supplies this week. I hope to have a layout down by Thursday so I can take everything over to the printer by the end of the week.  My goal is to try to get them back next week so they can be assembled and out in the mail by the following week. In the meantime, on Friday I had to finalize some details with Julie regarding our banquet items and hotel details.  Tonight, we're meeting with our DJ from Invisible Touch and have to figure out the order of events, lists of songs, etc.  I'm not freaking out, YET.  Between my wedding and an upcoming 2-day conference I'm planning at the Hyatt Regency for the end of July...it is going to be very easy to get overwhelmed this month.  Stand clear  especially if you see smoke coming out of the top of my head.

This weekend, we'll be filming the last of our clips for what should prove to be an entertaining video clip that Rob is working on for us.  We'll be meeting up with Pete, Jeannie, Sunny, Marilyn, and Rosie this weekend. Plus, it'll be nice to see Jane and the girls at Pete's.  On Sunday, I will be having my first bridal shower hosted by my good friend, Liz.  There will probably be about 30 people, mostly from work and networking in the community.  The anxiety is starting to sink in, but I can't think that far ahead.  Just gotta make it through today.

On top of everything else, Gat and I are going to be looking for an apartment starting this week.  We had hoped to get into a house by now, but with the floodgates open to our liquid cash flow and the prices of homes being so exorbitant.  We're going to wait awhile longer.

If anyone can prescribe sedatives, I'm going to need some soon.

  • This last weekend was a busy one.  Lisa finally graduated this last Saturday!Whoo-hoo!  She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's in Business Management.  The ceremony took place at the old Great Western Forum in Inglewood on Saturday morning.  WOW...that was an ordeal.  They packed people into that stadium.  It was a graduation ceremony for all Southern California campuses, so there were probably about 30,000 people total (including graduates).  Just as the ceremony was about to start, we noticed an abnormally large african-american walking in amongst the graduates.  He was escorted by about 6-7 people, and just towered over everyone.  Now, since the ceremony was at the Forum, there were large TV screens and cameras up in the ceilings.   When we looked up, it looked like Shaq!  We thought, "What is he doing here?"   We flipped through the program and saw his name "Shaquille Rashaun O'neill" underneath Masters in Business Administration!  He was graduating! So, that was sort of neat to see him there.  At least Lisa can say she graduated the same time as Shaq.  Needless to say, he got a lot of camera coverage. More so than any of the other graduates.  We hung out with family and took pictures most of the day.  It was a very long day.

Yesterday, we went down to San Diego and spent some time with Gat's parents.  We took them to Sea Port Village, which is in downtown San Diego, and hung out there for the afternoon.  It was interesting walking around, eating ice-cream, taking pictures and just "hanging out" with the folks.  We all enjoyed it, and had even considered renting a horse carriage to ride around SD.  Of course, there was a driver.  However, the thought of spending $35 for 15-minutes of riding behind a horse's butt smelling DUNG, couldn't be justified.  Instead, we found a boat rental place that rented little motor boats for $90/hour.  We rented a 16' motor boat and took it out to the harbor. THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!  We cruised/raced up and down the harbor, bouncing up and down the waves, taking turns driving.  I would definitely consider doing it again.  My only advice (for girls) is not to wear any dangly earrings.  We went so fast, the wind felt like it was going to tear the earrings right out of my ears!  The boat fit about 6-7 people and I would love to do it again.  I also saw sailboats for about $80/2 hours.  I wouldn't mind doing that also. Maybe in Newport Beach, if they have it.  I think we should try doing that one of these weekends...something different to try.
